SKYPE News - RTX Debuts Wireless Skype Phone at ITEXPO
By Monica Gleberman, Contributing Writer
RTX Telecom, a company that focuses on the development and production of advanced wireless solutions, has announced that it will debut its new DUALphone 4088 today at the ITEXPO East in the Miami Convention Center.
Established in 1993, RTX Telecom has knowledge and experience in designing advanced wireless short-range systems and productions. The company has focused its time on taking products and services such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and VoIP to the next level through one of the most popular video messaging services, Skype (News DUALphone 4088 is one of the first phones that can make VoIP calls without being connected to a user’s computer. The phone comes with a DUALphone base station that connects to any user’s broadband network, allowing for calls to be made via Skype’s free Internet service. This new device gives back-portability to the phone making it the closest device to a real landline telephone. Jesper Mailind, CEO RTX, said that this new phone could change the future of communication. “Our new elegant DUALphone 4088 offers consumers a unique way to use Skype, bringing benefits of wireless low cost or free calls to households across the globe at an affordable price point. We believe there is a growing demand for dual phones from the existing 170 million Skype account holders,” said Mailind. The new handset looks extremely similar to that of a typical cordless phone, but the features on the device set it apart from anything on the market. The DUALphone 4088 has a color display with a graphical user interface, supports two different Skype accounts, boasts HD-audio, a new message light indicator, DECT (News - Alert) air-interface using authentication and encryption and of course does not need to be plugged into a computer. Features that most users have come accustomed to such as call waiting, call forwarding, call history, contact lists and caller identity were not forgotten about and are all programmed into the phone as well. As the popularity of Skype, which grew 48 percent alone in 2011, continues to grow, Mailind sees this product as an alternative solution letting users walk away from their computers and use a phone like normal. “As more and more people use Skype our user-friendly and intuitive phone will be an attractive solution. It will also provide a business opportunity for resellers around the world,” said Mailind. To find out more about RTX, visit the company at ITEXPO East 2012.
