SKYPE News - Video Guidance's VG Connect Now Offers Integrated Video Conferencing to Skype, GoogleTalk Users

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Video Guidance, a privately held company headquartered in Bloomington, Minn., has made it more convenient to consumer-based Skype (News - Alert) and GoogleTalk video users, by offering integrated video conferencing between their desktop PCs, mobile devices and high-end video conferencing room systems. This is made possible using company’s VG Connect service.

Video Guidance had previously integrated its VG Connect service, a full-service, multipoint conferencing solution that bridges different videoconferencing systems, standards and devices together, to support Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync.

VG Connect's cloud-based services enables participants to join in video conferencing session – no matter where, when or what standard-based device is used – without the burden of owning the technology.

“Adding Skype and GoogleTalk further expands our capabilities to include an even wider range of users that will now be able to take advantage of our virtual video rooms (vRooms) as well as our managed conferencing services,” said Mike Werch, president and CEO of Video Guidance. “Now, employees and customers can collaborate virtually on most popular devices, which increases productivity because they can communicate anytime, anywhere.”

In addition, VG Connect’s can host multiple individual conferences with interactive participants from most locations worldwide in any combination of IP, ISDN and VOIP.

“A huge benefit of adding Skype and GoogleTalk is that it eliminates any new or additional video conferencing hardware or financial investment in video bridges, which are already included with VG Connect,” added Werch.

Founded in 1999, Video Guidance is a visual communications company in the upper Midwest. It is also is an independent partner of Cisco, Polycom and LifeSize (News - Alert), and maintains strategic alliances with Conference Plus, On Stream Media Corporation, VQ Communications and Accordent.

The company recently hired Paul Hanson as senior account manager in the company's Bloomington, Minn. office. He is responsible for account management and business development in the corporate enterprise market.
